Coupe back roll up window
Looking at a 1931 Modela A standard Coupe project
The owner has collected some additional parts that would go with the car. One of the items is a back window roll up. He says this is complete..... after cleanup ready to install. Needs glass. Question is.... how hard is this project? Does this take special glass? Input appreciated Thank you Gil. NoCal |

Check Mike's Affordable site for instructions and diagrams on installing the roll down window.

Re: Coupe back roll up window
The PO put one in my 30 coupe. Said it wasn't easy. Probably why yours hasn't been installed.

Re: Coupe back roll up window
Any comments from Coupe owners that have the rear window
that can roll up or down? Do you use it often? Does it give better cross flow air circulation in the car? Input appreciated Thank you Gil. NoCal |

Re: Coupe back roll up window
Mother-in-law window. Roll down for conversations with rumble seat passengers. Roll up when you're tired of her yak.
I've never driven faster than parade speed with rear passengers, so I can't speak to airflow much. A breeze is always nice. |

Mine is factory. When I was a teenager used it and average amount, but not all the time. Guess it would help air flow.

Re: Coupe back roll up window
To my knowledge, the earlier 1930 coupe models had a flange at the lower end of the window that will have to be cut off to install a roll-down rear window assembly. The 1931 models had no flange in this area to allow installation. I may be wrong on this point, but that is what I recall. This flange is not usually mentioned regarding installing these parts.

Re: Coupe back roll up window
The roll-down back window in my coupe permits a lot of ventilation. Have had coupes before without and it doesn't compare.
Years ago the kids were riding in the rumble seat. They started complaining when it started lightly raining (in summer). My wife told them she didn't want to hear them so she rolled up the window. |
