Default Carburettor storage.

I have just rebuilt a Stromberg carburettor for a spare and I want it kept in storage, it could be for years so what is the best thing to do to it especially the rubber parts.

wait to rebuild it? Probably keep it out of the sun and vacuum seal it from air. Would be a thought.

^^^^^^^^Totally agree with Tinker. I use my wife’s vacuum sealer she uses for the freezer.

Do what aussie merc said and then vacuum seal the whole package. Might be a good idea to squirt some silicone on the fragile parts first.

Maybe I'm old school, but I don't have a vacuum sealer. I've put masking tape over the top and bottom and a rubber plug over the fuel inlet, then put them in a freezer bag on the shelf in the garage and used them later with no issues.

Put it in a coffee can or such, and fill with kerosene. No corrosion, no shrinkage or disintegration of rubber parts or gaskets. Cheap. Not a fire hazard.

Curious if a coating of Gibb's oil and then placed in a plastic bag would also work?

I'm thinking of my coin collection I pulled out recently after many years in their cardboard display cards and plastic envelopes. Acid from the cardboard and from my own fingers destroyed not only the uncirculated, but the coins I had pulled from circulation as well. Acid free materials are a must.

Invest in a vacuum sealer and you can get the desiccant silicon gel packs from amazon 120 of them is like $ 8.00. Two for a carb, one for a fuel pump and one for 20 rounds of ammo. two for 100 rounds!!!!

IF you want to get really want to get it right, after you vacuum seal them with the silica gel packs then put them is a US Army 20mm ammo box with a gel pack thrown in.....They also are an air tight seal. Two or three 94's and a couple few fuel pumps fit into one NO problem!!!
