Re: $2000 gas cap
I was a bit surprised at the final outcome of the auction. Regardless, the buyer is happy and crazy auction prices like this and others at least shows there is still some value in this old ford stuff.

Bidding in the last six seconds is certainly no guarantee. If I had bid in the first six seconds but I had set a higher proxy you can not exceed that bid with any so called strategy. Regardless, to the seller go my congratulations! You did good.

Re: $2000 gas cap
I have one exactly like that that I bought at a garage sale for $2. Cost $16. to get a key made. Mine is real rare, it has DRAKE stamped on the back!! Maybe I should offer it on ebay, no wait, there will be a hundred on ebay tomorrow.

I watched a 2-bolt timing cover go for $200.00 so you never know.

Re: $2000 gas cap
You'd think for this price it would have included free shipping!

Put it on your Christmas wish list. Maybe it will be in your stocking Christmas morning

Re: $2000 gas cap
I guess it goes to show you just never know. Remember when there was a run on those breathers that are scoops (I think '36 or '37)? Those got pricey real quick and then faded away.

Re: $2000 gas cap
Sell the model A, then you might be able to afford it.

"Automatic bids" would be those that are placed by the proxy to outbid a manually entered one. The 3rd party aided bids would be considered manual bids on that list. The whole thing seems a bit fishy on the bidding, but we'll see what happens to the one that was listed yesterdary. Item #321617776420

Re: $2000 gas cap
A lot of those outrageous bid wars end up with someone welshing on the deal.

Re: $2000 gas cap
Did any Barners stop to think that maybe the seller had several of these caps some friends run it up, so he could sell moprfe at high dollar and return the $2000 to his friend.I am not saying it happened that way, but it could.

Re: $2000 gas cap
Now there's another one just surfaced on e-bay.
$300 at present. Maybe Drake should start making them. |

Re: $2000 gas cap
This seller gets more for other new items than Mac's or Drake charge.
Not knocking him , but I don't understand it either. I guess some people are just spur of the moment buyers and can't be bothered with catalogs.
