1940 merc door removal

I'm in the process of removing the doors of my Coupe but with 60 years of rust and corrosion they're not coming off very easily so to remove the doors could I just knock out the pin on the lower hinge and then the three bolts on the upper door hinge are fairly easy to come out once removed then it'll be easier to disassemble all the hardware is that the way it's done

Sounds like a plan. When removing the pins, remember you have 81 years of wear on those pins. They may have a "ridge" on them so You may have to work pretty hard to get them out. Idea, jack up the door a just a tad at the latch end to compensate for the wear, if needed.

Are ford hinge pins the same size as Mercurys of the same year? Thanks for ur tip..

Anyway,so I bought the hinge removal tool at CW Moss..the drivers hinge pin surrenderd and came out,but his compadre on the passenger side is holding out! I have put flame to him,beat him with the BMFH,dosed him with penetrating oil of different types...finally I pulled out the pneumatic hammer with the pointy die and gave it hell!!!the MF will not surrender...what next. I ready to give up.

IF you can see the gap around the pin and the hinge opening......I used a can of compressed air and blow oil/penitent/blaster et al down into ANY crevasse you can for a few days!!!

That tool is a joke! It SOMETIMES gets the easy ones moving. IF someone invented a REAL tool, built like a bridge that would really UNSTICK these stuck pins, he would be a hero! We'll never see a worthwhile, honest-to-goodness pin-removal tool in our lifetime. DD
