The sliding tab locks the tool in an infinite number of positions of spring compression. The width of the tip is adjustable to fit various components. I had to wait about a week before one showed up on ebay. I checked when you started this thread and there were not any currently being offered. I assembled about 40 engines last year and know from experience what type I like best. JMO
Good Day

Do you know the model # of the Sunnen tool?
Thanks

Carl, can you show a photo of the valve compressor that you like. I am in the market for one.

I have the antique tool that Dave showed, Post # 16. I had to modify it a bit to get it to work well.

I’ve just used the trusty old craftsman similar to the one pictured above with no issues.
