Re: Lucas ethanol fuel additive
If it makes you feel better and you don't need the money to put food on the table, by all means use it. (it will make the share holders happy)

Re: Lucas ethanol fuel additive
I don't know what claims the Lucas product makes, nor how true they are, but I can personally vouch for Stabil 360. I was having constant fuel contamination issues if my car sat in the garage for more than a couple of days. I would get this rust red gunk build up in my fuel filter to the point that it would restrict fuel flow. It apparently was very fine rust that was coming from the top of my tank not covered by fuel (the ethanol in gasoline absorbs water, which condenses out on the tank). Stabil 360's claim-to-fame is that it creates a protective vapor which prevents the rust that forms from the condensation on the tank.
I started using the additive and haven't had any more problems....fuel filter is absolutely clean after several thousand miles. Coincidence? Maybe, but I tend to believe it works and it is cheap insurance. Last edited by rheltzel; 03-24-2016 at 07:13 PM. |

Re: Lucas ethanol fuel additive
One of the advantages of living in a state that has easy access to non-ethanol gas!

Re: Lucas ethanol fuel additive
Got four old cars that sit over the winter and never had a problem with 10 % ethanol in over the 10 + years we have had it. No Stabil or any other of that kind of stuff.

Re: Lucas ethanol fuel additive
Last fall or late summer I think, before the gas prices went down. Today Regular was $1.95 and NoEthnl $2.26 here. It just went up over the last week or so, Regular was around $1.25 or $1.35 a short while back.

Re: Lucas ethanol fuel additive
In Michigan we have what they call recreational fuel, for boats, snowmobiles, old cars, etc. Probably the same thing as Kansas has, but different name.

We have it here in TN, uses the same nozzle but use a different button to select no ethanol I use it in all of my small engines along with Stabil.

Re: Lucas ethanol fuel additive
Paul,
I agree with you. I have had this modern gas last for over two years and still run fine! I have nine older engines and no problems. |
