Default Weiand Cheater Heads

So I was on Craigslist and I found someone selling a set of Weiand Cheater Heads. They looks nice in the picture. Does the price sound reasonable? I like the look of stock heads over the finned heads, but I also like aftermarket parts and aluminum heads for some reason.
Another question, would these work okay on a stock engine with stock cam?

Seems like a lot of money for a set of heads whose condition and history are unknown.
Buy new heads to be sure of what you are getting.

Would they work ok on a stock engine with stock cam? Hell yea! They are very cool, if I had em I'd run em. If there in usable condition of course. And that is they difference between good parts and good wall decorations. You'd need to get up close and personal with them to really see. I've used Ford aluminium heads that look worse than those appear in the pic, and they worked fine. Only pulled them off to fit Navarro heads. But it's a small pic. They need to be under your nose to judge. If there ok for use, are they worth the money? How much money did all the other wieand cheater heads you've seen go for?
It's your money, only you know the answer.
They don't appear to have been cut a lot, that's a plus.
Martin.

I had a pair on a warmed up 59A, loved them. They were never admitted by Weiand as ever being made. They bring good money now. The price is very fair.

Thanks for all the information. I know they are rare, another reason why I want them. Hopefully they are still available when I have a chance to see them.

The Weiand cheater heads copy the Canadian heads as far as appearance goes.

I think the price is fair - I've seen them on 'the bay' for around $750 or so. They look to be in good condition.

No, they have C7RA 6050 and Made in Canada cast on them

Do they have "Weiand" cast on the inside of the water necks?

If you look close you can see that raised Weiand logo on the underside of the neck. I think they are pretty rare, I have never seen a set with my own eyes other than the ones I had. I have seen them for sale but not too many. 200-300 is great if you can find them for that price.

You either have better eyes than I do or maybe a better monitor. I wish I was closer to Albany; I'd be going to a bunch of swap meets!

$200 is a fair price range. There are those that pay inordinate amounts for period speed equipment. I have a set on my 47 stock Ford and they do make a difference. I bought several sets back in the 60s from Honest Charley to run on my dirt cars. The real Canadian heads appear to be not as thick castings as Weiand. I have a set and the necks are thinner and alum not good stuff, lots of chemical reaction over the years.

Actually they don't say "made in", just Canada......one of the ways to spot them.

Opinions on price are always all over the place, and you never know who's real and who's fantasy on the internet. Condition is everything if you plan to use them, so make sure you figure out whether you're buying something useful or art.

So what is the difference between the Weiand heads and the Canadian heads? Besides manufacturer...

I can see the raised, rectangular shape (which contains the word "WEIAND") right in the center of the head, just above the center-most, upper hole. DD

How do they compare to a set or original Navarros with a 8.75:1 ratio ?
