Default 99-T Sleeved Engine

I have a 99-T HS engine, if The tin can sleeves are removed what size will the cylinders clean up at. Will it have to be bored or can it be honed to the closest bore size. How are the sleeves removed-?
THANKS for any info.

They made a piston to use after the sleeve was removed, I think you can get these from Max VP

The bore with the sleeve removed is .0825 they used to make pistons that size. but the bore doesn't have a very good finish. they were made to remove the worn sleeve and replace with a new sleeve. I would bore it.
To remove the sleeve use a fingernail shaped punch and catch the top edge driving it inward carefully, the idea is to cave the sleeve in toward the middle.
Don't pry against the cylinder wall or you can crack it. Once you have it caved in a little you can drive it out with an old hammer handle.
These sleeves are called tin can sleeves because they're made out of steel with a .041 wall thickness.

On any of the tin sleeve blocks I have worked on after removing the sleeves we simply bored it for the Ford stock size 3-3/16 piston its easy to do. To remove the sleeves I simply used my mig welder running a welding bead along the length of the sleeve. This made removing the sleeves extremely easy.

The 99-T is the big truck version same as the Mercury 3 3/16 bore.

there can be 2 different thickness "tin" sleeves for 99A ---.040 thick, and .060 thick
So the bore could be 3.2684-3.2687, or 3.3084-3.3087

My post was how I remove tin sleeves on each block I have worked on all of which were the 3-1/16 bore. So far I have not had the pleasure of working on any tin sleeved 3-3/16 Ford blocks.

I'd like to find one with .060 sleeves, knock those suckers out and then go to a 3.3125 bore . . . okay, who has one for sale . . . CHEAP! LOL

The pistons I have for this situation are marked as .083 oversize which leaves just enough stock for a quick hone job.

Same here, but you have to be careful removing the sleeves.

I have one of thees engines in the shed, it’s sleeved down to 3 1/6” would that mean it has the smaller diameter big ends?
