I have a BB 4 speed Bell housing and was wondering what the difference is from the AA 4 speed Bell housing.

Unfortunately when Ford Introduced the 1932's any parts that carried over from the Model A without change were assigned a new part number starting with a "B" prefix (or maybe an"18" if they were unique to the V8). This wasn't one of their better ideas and the practice stopped after 1932. After '32 the prefix reflected the first year the part was used and didn't change for subsequent years if the part remained the same.

Charlie, it's not the case with this part. The parts book shows both
AA-7501 1929-31 and BB-7501-A 1932-34.

That is a bad sign, it says it is a different part.

There is a land and groove mating surface for alignment in the AA housings. The same area in the BB housings are flat without the land and groove at the mating surfaces. The housings are not interchangeable.
