Default 1938 interior question….

My 38 CS is missing interior trim (windlace?) beginning at the floor, running along the edge of right and front left kick panels and up along outside edges of dash.
In most photos, the trim terminates about halfway up windshield garnish molding, tucked behind the molding.
My car has an indentation with a hole (presumably for a screw) -where top of dash edge disappears into garnish molding.
Was there a clip or retainer, similar to those found on convertible tops, to hide the top edge of the interior trim rather than having it terminate into the garnish molding? I seem to recall seeing one open car with them, but now can’t find that photo…
As always, thank you in advance!
Steve

Steve, I am only going by a somewhat faded memory...
For certain you are missing the windlace. That does in fact terminate beneath the windshield molding but not halfway up. Rather, only about 2" or so.
That hole, hmmm... seems to me there is a rubber weatherstrip that terminates at the lower end and is held to that area with a screw.
As a side note, that rubber had a felt like covering.

Disclaimer, I don't know if either of these cars are correct, both have had amateur restorations. Here are pictures of two different cars. The first is my phaeton, the second is a convertible sedan that was listed for sale that I saved pictures of.
