Default cleaning 28 gas tank

Tank has some old gas gauge seal material that on occasion stops up the intake to the valve. I have punched it out with a brass rod, blown it thru with air pressure and still sooner or later it shuts off the flow of fuel. Any suggestions?

Install one of the fuel filters that fits into the shutoff valve. The filter goes up into the tank about 1.5" and stops debris like you are describing from blocking the inlet to the shutoff.
Most of the large Model A vendors have them in their offerings.
Snyder's calls it a "Gas Tank Screen" Part number: A-9193-T
I install these in every car I work on that has the fuel shut-off removed. I have them in my 28 & 29...no issues.
Good Day!

Member of local club kept having fuel problems. Picture attached to show old sealant that was floating in tank.

I agree with Dave. Every model A I have runs terrific with one of those pencil filters.

an easy fix for a troublesome problem.
