Model a Pressure Plate Finger Adjustment
I have started up again on a 1929 CCPU that I started on years ago and it got pushed to the back burner. I am working towards getting it ready to take the Chassis for it's first drive. I was missing some brake linkage and Clutch pedal linkage. Now that I got the missing parts and installed a new clutch and brake shaft and bushings in the pedals (thanks to the tips it went really smooth) I was ready to adjust the clutch and get one step closer. With the Clevis adjusted all the way as short as it will go the Clutch is almost fully engaging with the pedal all the way down to the point that the pedal is hitting the drivers side engine mount.
So I did more reading and I found that the clutch fingers are set at 1 1/4" instead of the 5/8" to 3/4" that seems to be the standard. Sadly I am finding this out now when the engine and transmission are in the frame. Does anybody have advice for adjusting the fingers through the inspection plate on the bell housing, or am I just going to have to pull everything back out and do it with the transmission off? Thanks, Adam Akers |

Whatever you decide to set the fingers at, remember that they should be within .002" of each other. |
