Default Roadster door rubber bumpers

I just received a set of door bumpers for my’31 roadster, and the bumper that goes at the top rear of the door is way too big to fit. All bumper kits for ‘31 roadsters seem to be the same, so I assume these are meant to be trimmed to fit - in this case quite a bit. Is this normal ?

Thanks - Jim

I am restoring a '31 Roadster and I had to thin down this rubber quite a bit and even the one toward the bottom of the door some.

My experience,

They sure don't fit on Repop doors. On my roadster with original doors they seemed to fit well, but that was 10 years ago.

Chris,
You may have already passed installing the lower door seal.
I found my steel channel to be distorted and dinged up to the point that the rubber would not go in. I made a small anvil to tap thru the channel to restore the shape so the rubber would slide in properly.
Send me a pm if you need to borrow it or I can send a picture if you want to make one....pretty simple with a dremel or file.......T.

Tim,

Thanks for the offer. I have these seals already installed. It became evident that I needed some kind of a tool to re-shape the channel and I made something similar to what you did.

Anyway, I do appreciate the offer.
