Re: Model A head gasket
Those of us in my club with HC head have been happy using the Best 509G gasket.

Re: Model A head gasket
Snyder recommends on their web site and what I used:
Part # B-6051-XO | Model Year 28-34 DThis graphite style head gasket is basically the same gasket as our B-6051-C except it does not have the 2 small steam holes between the #2 and #3 cylinders which can be a weak point when used on a model A block. Best gasket #509G We recommend using this head gasket when running our high compression heads on a model A block. Can also be used for stock model A head applications. Re: Model A head gasket
Since 2018, I have gone through 3 head gaskets on my 190A Victoria that has a 6:1 compression ratio. The 3rd gasket, a Best 509C has been a success: · 4387 Miles: Best 509C Kevlar was installed without any sealer. Put all studs in hand tight then torqued to 30 lbs-ft, to 45 lbs-ft and then 55 lbs-ft. Next day found that gasket compressed, so re-torqued to 55 lbs-ft. 4400 Miles: Ran car 13 miles and afterward re-torqued head to 60 lbs-ft while engine was hot. Re-torqued the head again to 60 lbs-ft while the engine was hot. Some but not all nuts needed torque. 4437 Miles: Re-torqued head again to 60 lbs-ft. Gasket is still compressing. 4579 Miles: Re-torqued head to 60 lbs-ft. No issues!
