Hi all, New here, and a new Model A Owner.
Just a dumb question, can you use like 'Gunk' Carb/Choke cleaner to degrease parts. say the front end (spindle, control arms etc....) Thanks! Dave |

Re: Carb/Choke Cleaner
I'd use brake cleaner if you want a spray to clean greasy parts. JMO

Re: Carb/Choke Cleaner
Carb./Brake cleaner is very aggressive and can damage the paint. I use regular paint thinner (not lacquer thinner) and a paint brush. It's way less aggressive and does the job. Old cars need some time. I only use a pressure washer or aggressive cleaning agents for extremely stubborn dirt.

Run it through the dishwasher when you wife is not home.

Re: Carb/Choke Cleaner
degreaser, then lacquer thinner, or kerosene.
Never gasoline, or diesel. Then simple green. |

Re: Carb/Choke Cleaner
Simple Green full strength. Spray on and let soak but don't let dry.
Apply again and start scrubbing with stiff nylon scrub brushes. Power wash off. Grab your grease gun and grease things up after power washing to push any water out.

Re: Carb/Choke Cleaner
this would be for my front spindles after I take off my backing plate and yank out the kingpin. I figured Carb cleaner would work to clean it good, but guess get a 5 gallon bucket and a gallon of Simple Green and go to work. Appreciate all the help here, new Model A owner and my baby needs a lot of love (Brakes on all 4 corners)

Re: Carb/Choke Cleaner
I don’t use WD-40 for a lubricant, BUT it works as a solvent! buy it in a gallon can
