Default Right side mirror for '30 Roadster?

I wish I had a right side mirror on my '30 Roadster. With all the nitwit drivers on the road these days I'd feel a lot better eliminating that blind spot, especially when the top is up. Anyone know if there's enough meat in the original stanchion to drill & tap to install a mirror like the one on the left? Anyone ever tried it? Snyder's shows a right side stanchion that is pre-drilled for a mirror but is out of stock. I don't see why I couldn't get away with drilling/tapping my own if there is enough metal there. Thoughts?

I am not familiar with a Roadster door post, but could a hinge pin mounted one be used?

I just did this and there is enough metal to drill and tap. Drilling the stainless steel stanchion can be a challenge if you don't use the proper drill bit so I went with a cobalt bit and used a drill press so that the bit wouldn't walk.

I have done a few roadster right mirrors. Take your time and there is enough to drill and tap, but not much.

It still isn't the end all for viewing, so what i do to help even further is to a apply one of those small 2-3" stick on mirrors on top of the new mirror.

Stainless is tough to drill because it's a very poor heat conductor, best way is a slow turning bit and a flowing coolant, air or water work well.

'Preciate all the responses. Shouldn't be too tough, except for having to shell out $60.00 for the mirror + shipping!!
