Default California prices

I had my 6V-12V starter completed by a local generator starter shop. I took it apart and drill and tapped the holes for the strap to keep it together. The shop cleaned up the old armature, installed a new bearing in the old end plate, reassembled and tested. $80

I also had my flywheel resurfaced. 2 older, rated high on YELP, don't do that but one recommended this place. I thought they did the pressure plate as well but no. The resurface of the flywheel was $55.

The days of finding that old mechanic that does this stuff in his sleep are gone, especially in the big city in CA. I thought the prices were fair and reasonable. Now to find a pressure plate re-furbisher. I hate just buying new, but also don't like to spend extra $$.

Clutch Masters, on Valley, in Rialto, was excellent ten years ago. I don't know current situation. They were able to do all this, including surface and balance, while you wait. great products, great service.

Last report was they just sell parts now and don't do rebuilds. I got that from a few posts here and on the HAMB.

I suggest calling them to confirm.

I am in San Jose. I know I can buy new but there's just something in me about tossing something that could be good.
