Default pressure plate

Is there a way to test a ford pressure plate to see if it is still usable?

The clutch specification books have info about plate thickness, spring tension/color, and set up adjustments for clutches of all the different makes & models but the clutch shops guard this info. I've not seen reprints of it or I'd grab them. I send my clutches to Ft Wayne Clutch for overhaul since my Borg & Beck stuff is not reproduced.

It's way too much trouble to install one just for a test. It's just not worth the risk.
