59AB engine and clutch
Will a 59AB engine with a 11" clutch bolt up to a 40 to 48 side loader transmission or will there be clearance problems?

Re: 59AB engine and clutch
I am pretty sure there will be clearance problems. Maybe the 10 in. clutch would work.
I have a gut feeling that the stock pressure plate, clutch and flywheel is the way to literally "go". An 11 inch clutch is overkill. Why do you want to use one? What are you building? |

Re: 59AB engine and clutch
The 11-inch Long type was generally used with the 4-speed but should work on the light duty 3-speed whether it is the top load or side load version from late 1937 on up. It is a big heavy thing though and you will lose rpm build performance due to that. I would use the 9 or 10-inch Long types myself.

Re: 59AB engine and clutch
I am building a spare engine for my '48 car. Granted, an 11" clutch is probably overkill, but that's what I have on hand. Also, I might end up using this engine in a 1 1/2 ton truck.
