Re: 6volt Tachometer
I have the same problem. I put an Autometer tach on my column, since i could not find a nice, period looking 6 volt tach. I think I'm going to try one of those 6 to 12 volt converters that are used for radios, buy yikes! they are $60 on ebay. I'm trying to find something a little cheaper, but I may have to raise my standards....

Re: 6volt Tachometer
Keep searching on eBay and you can find vintage SUN tachs and the correct black box to operate it.

Re: 6volt Tachometer
Sun tachometer control boxes need to be fully rebuilt prior to usage. They contained a battery type that is no longer made and often have serious corrosion on the points mechanism.

Re: 6volt Tachometer
Back in the 60's I was driving a 1940 tudor as my only car, and was working at the local ford dealership. I liked the look of the tach on the falcon sprint and the brand new mustang, so I bought one and installed it on the 40 ford. It worked fine on 6 volts, positive ground. I still have the tach. I should connect it on the model A and see how that works.

Re: 6volt Tachometer
A 2 & 1/16th diameter 6 volt positive ground rotational sweep tachometer is a tall order. I know of no such brand.

Re: 6volt Tachometer
I had this place make a small run of tachometers for a specialty application. The price wasn't bad and their website says they'll make up one custom gauge.
