Default New Distributor Points for Model A

Has anyone used the new points from Standard? I only say new because I was just showed a set this week and hadn't seen them or heard anything about them. The part number on them is FD 1718 and the major change is the wear block is made of modern material. Otherwise I think they are just like the original? That's the main complaint for going with modern points over the past years? contact_set_oem_fd1718.jpg

I didn't know until last week one of our members asked if I had seen them. I said I wasn't aware of any new points and then looked at them. I googled that number online and they were all over. The one thing I noticed is the price is quite high I thought. I paid $12.00 and online they were anywhere from $29.00 - $15.00. I might start to build some distributors with these but will try to get the price down.

I recently bought points from O'reilly ...was a little surprised that they had them..

BWD brand, but they look just like the Standard brand pictured above...

What would an original points set look like?

The picture is of the BWD set being installed..

Does anyone know if they make them for the "B" distributor?

Remember, QUICK & UNEVEN rubbing block wear can happen, if the pivot post for the point arm is LOOSE & WOBBLY! It can be tightened, under the plate, with a punch & a TAP-TAP-TAP! Both of mine were LOOSE as a GOOSE!
