Body Lift `30 Roadster
I need help in knowing where the body lift points are on a `30 roadster, or whatever type of operation is used to accomplish this. John Hash (Ford Barn member)has suggested using the bars on the inside of the body just above the top door hinges L&R and the L&R upright bars by the package tray by the quarter panel. I guess by what I`ve read that I will only need to go up 4". I also know that I will need to disconnect several pieces that connect the body to frame and engine. Thanks guys

Re: Body Lift `30 Roadster
If the doors remain closed, you can use masking tape to line the jambs for paint protection, and then with the doors closed it will be sturdy enough to lift it.
If the doors are already off, then a brace out of some sort of metal (we use square tubing) spanning from the top iron bracket on the Qtr Panel up to a screw hole in the A-pillar where the lower stanchions attaches is sufficient.. . |

Re: Body Lift `30 Roadster
I wonder how many people have folded their subrails because they didn't think about doing what Brent reminds?
I lift the bodies with a typical home garage boom lift (engine hoist some call it, whatever). For a roadster I've used eyebolts through the subrail mounting holes roughly at the base of the A pillar, and the rear of the passenger area. With good placement of the lifting straps/chains/whatever you can get a good balance as the CG for a roadster is pretty low. Coupes and sedans work better with the lifting points near the beltline.
