If I were you I’d have it scanned at an automotive paint supply vendor. It won’t be cheap. By the way welcome to the barn! .

Good timing, I'm looking to do that also.

One option is Colorite Refinishing Company, Bethany CT (203) 393-0240 that does antique car paint. I got some chips from them when the car was painted, but they are different than other chips I had, like in the PPG booklet. They'll probably mail you some chips to compare if you ask.

Another option is trying to cross reference the PPG code number 1245. The PPG booklet I have further defines Tacoma Cream as 346=20.4, 329=296.5, 311=787.3, where the first number is the DMA pigment number and the second number is the parts per quart.

I think the problem with using any "correct" formula is you don't know what was used on your car.

My plan at this point is to take my hardened up touch up bottle that I kept, slice it in half with a knife, and hopefully the local auto paint distributor can optically match it.

Hallo Lou,

a year 2500 mls ago I installed a modern composite head gasket. I am dissatisfied. Despite being tightened several times with a torque wrench, water sweats out all around the seal from the start. (The cylinder head was grounded flat new.)

Fine point car or a driver?? You might try H Depot or Lowe's in the paint section for spray can, some are a match or quite close. FWIW

I have used Krylon 'Buttercreme' with good results on my Tacoma Creme wheels.

"Buttercream is not on the shelves here in CT, and I just took a look at the Krylon site:

They no longer produce Buttercream. I did see a few cans on Ebay for stupid expensive prices, this might be why.

Hello Mister Moose, here in downeast Maine we give the moose plenty of room! This summer I wanted to match the paint on my wheels (the color was straw). I took the paint to a NAPA store which sells automotive paint. It was frustrating because there isn't enough flat area on the Model a Wheel to get a good match with the NAPA sensing gun. I eventually went to TCP Paints and purchased a gallon of acrylic urethane specially mixed for the Model A color "straw." The cost, an eye poping price of $250.00! The only thing I can say is the color is perfect and the rims looked absolutely beautiful. The paint is hard, high gloss and tough. I paid a ton but was rewarded with an excellent result. Hello Werner, I know you are not happy with the way your engine looks but I may have a fix for you. First clean off the white streaks off the block. Then take a rag and wrap it around your fore finger and dip it in a can of wheel bearing grease. Rub and push the grease into the edge of the head gasket all around except under the exhaust manifold. Wipe off the excess. I do this each year at the beginning of the driving season and it works for me. Good luck, Ed

Ah, did not know that. I just checked on Amazon.com and they are asking $35 for a 12 oz rattle can.

I had my local Lowe’s hardware store color match a paint flake from one of my wheels that I sprayed TAcoma Cream acrylic lacquer 30 years ago. The color match is perfect. I had them mix it up as a gloss enamel which I now brush on for touch-ups.

If I can figure out how to post 2 pics, I think you’ll find them very helpful.
