Default evapo rust and WD-40

I read on this forum that if a rattle paint can stopped working you can spray WD-40 into the can and it will continue to work until empty. What is the relationship between WD-40 and paint. If I have WD-40 on a part and then paint it will the paint stick to the surface or is there a problem with doing this?
The same question is with the evapo-rust, will it interfere with the paint after an evapo-rust treatment or is it OK to paint over a treated part? Jack

WD-40 is a type of oil and would need to be cleaned thoroughly before being painted over. Evaporated-Rust will leave a residue and will also need to be cleaned.

I have enough problems when I paint, I don't need to add oil to the process.

About all I use WD40 for is to remove the gum leftover when taking off stickers/labels. Probably good to dry out a wet distributor. When this can is gone, I won't replace it

The straw on the can of WD40 fits into the bottom of the paint can nozzle to clean the nozzle out and it should not to be put into the can.

Instead, I have also used my air compressor with a rubber tip nozzle to add pressure to a flat aerosol can with some success. Take off the nozzle and point tip into can. It doesn't take much psi's to get it to work again to get out the last of the contents...

I squirted WD40 on a very noisy fan belt the other day. Instantly quiet! I'm gonna try Dave's idea (right above this) on a spray can of PB Blaster that gave up the ghost with a lot left in the can.

WD- 40 is a silicone lube. Do Not use around paint. Just Sayin. Used to be a body shop manager and it was not allowed in the shop. Nor was Armor All, etc., all the silicone products do not work well in a body shop, i.e. paint area.

I soak the nozzle in acetone for a day or so and it clears the hole.

We nicknamed a guy at work, silver duck, he was trying to get silver paint out of a can he thought was dead.

Even if it were to pressure the car the contents would most likely screw up screw up the paint job. What is the relationship between WD-40 and paint. The same question is with the evapo-rust, will it interfere with the paint after an evapo-rust treatment or is it OK to paint over a treated part?Evapo rust will remove rust. It leaves no coating. Follow the instructions and after soaking I rinse off the rust residue in warm to hot water to speed up the drying and then coat them with whatever the part calls for right away or it will flash rust. Jack
If you want to treat the part for storage then apply Ospho Surface Prep
