Default 1930 Model A - Stuck Spark Advance Lever

First thanks for allowing me to join the group. I recently acquired my late grandfathers 1930 Model A Coupe. The car hasn't been started in 20+ years and I'm working on getting it back up and running.

Question: The Spark Advance Lever inside the cab is really tight to move. What can I do to get the lever moving outside of taking apart the entire steering column?

FYI... I removed the control rod to be sure the issue is between the inside of the cab down through the steering column. I verified that I'm able to freely move the spark retard arm on the distributor. I wasn't sure if I could spray penetrating oil (PB Blaster) down the lever.

Thanks in advance for your help and guidance through this process. The family is ready to start taking rides especially the kids in the rumble seat.

spray some rust penetrant in the upper bushing where the rod goes and also where it comes back out inside the engine compartment and slowly move it up and down till its free. Its probably stuck in the upper bushing - potmetal likes to swell with age thus shrinks the hole..

Yep, it's usually the top bushing, and my 28 was very tight also from years of not being used.
I just sprayed Kroil on it, then later a few drops of motor oil, and it works fine now.

Mitch, I don't doubt this statement, I have not found much use for WD 40 except for it's original purpose and a cleaner but what does it do negatively to pot metal?
