Default Spedometer stopped working

I took apart my spedo cable today and noticed the end which goes into the driveshaft housing had separated from the cable. Soldered that back on and then the end that mates with the spedo head came off. Soldered that on back on too. Speedometer works again.

I would order a new inner cable and make sure the outside housing is good. Also make sure the speedometer turns freely. Most of mine needed to be freed up and lubed. I can't imagine the solder holding for long, because it's so soft, but I've never tried it.
