Default On dodlebugs

Most of us have ran across various doodle bugs, or Model As made into tractors. I was also just thinking how many I've found over the years that were stripped down and reversed to use on a hay bucker. Now I wish I had taken pictures. Maybe we could make this a doodle bug, hay bucker picture thread.

Ok, I've seen and owned a few doodlebugs, but don't know what a hay bucker is or does. Bob

My high school "dodlebugy". This is what was left of an old 1929 CCPU after I customized it back in the 1950's. The other picture is the same chassis made into a huckster in 2010.

In my opinion, it's a vehicle that has already been done and not asking how to make one from a donor car. Along the lines of a speedster, no complete cars are being damaged in the making. Besides, there are no other places (forums) for this kind of stuff unlike hot rods and modified cars.

Here is one I built when we lived in Mich. Used it to plow snow and mow my 15 acres.

That's a good looking tractor. What did you use for rear wheels? With those wheels and lug tires it almost looks as large as a Ford 9N.

They were Ford tractor wheels front and back. Not sure if they were 9N or 8N
got them at a tractor junk yard.

The bug had 2 AA 4 speeds, with the power take off running the PTO for the mower . Also had live Hydraulic for the snow plow. Also had a 3 point hitch.

Here's mine...31 AA, single 4 speed. Built a snow plow for it and use it to pull wagons in the summer.

I think they are great! It's interesting and sometimes entertaining seeing what people did in the past to make these machines work.

If anybody knows of anything for sale in the ct/western mass area please let me know!

I have seen two since coming to Canada in 1967. The first was in an orchard in Ericson BC in the fall of 1967. It was in daily use hauling trailers during apple picking time.

The other was in Chipman AB at the farm where we bought our St. Bernard puppy in 1973. This one had been recently been replaced by a newer pickup and was parked to one side of the yard..

I wish I had had the time and money to invest in those two gems.

As and aside, the one in Chipman had been converted into a Bennett Buggy (motor pulled and converted to horse power) during the 30s depression. The motor was reinstated when the economy picked up and it was used as a tractor. The owner's grandson was then in his early teens had driven it and wanted to get it going again. I never did know what happened to it.

I have a great doodlebug, has 2 (3 spd.) transmissions and a worm drive rear. Behind the 2 Gator bucket seats is a Model T wood bed, the rear wheels are 20" with chains the fronts are 1929 A wheels and tires, has 30 Plymouth headlights and std. 30 Model A front end. What a climber she is, sorry no pictures, my computer was wiped clean and none installed yet.

I've thought about making a doodle bug oiut of this one. I just can't bring myself to cut a numbers matching frame and engine. I've got everything but the cab. I used the cab to build a pickup .

Purdy, mine has an uncut frame, only the rear crossmember was removed and the TT rear was welded to the frame rails then the rear was coupled directly to the u joint on the second trans. Your chassis would be ideal with a 30 cowl mounted in place.
