Horn BRACKET ID
I searched and found the thread on horn ID and discovered that the latest horn I picked up (I have to be careful. Restoring and collecting model A horns can be fun and addictive!) is a Stewart Warner. But in my horn parts box I noticed that I had two different horn brackets. One is just a stamped and bent piece of metal (maybe repro, or a later simplified version?), and the other is larger & three pieces riveted together).
Any info on model A horn bracket evolution would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: Horn BRACKET ID
Well i googled and didnt come up with much, but just by looking at it i doubt its ford. Henry liked simplicity and speed of manufactuering. The 3 piece one is just that way too many pieces and extra assembly steps.
The ford one is the single stamp/punched/bent one. Attaches using the left headlight bolt hence the angle and the tab to keep the horn from rotating as you drive. Now the other one could be a universal bracket or off another car. Stewart Warner made everything for everybody so it could be off an REO or who knows what since there were something like 150 auto manufactures at that time. Then you get the universal auto parts store parts mixed in there so who knows what its from.

Re: Horn BRACKET ID
You know, that left bracket looks just like bracket I had on the trumpet horn on my 1960 Harley FLH.
The right side I have no idea that it is from, but it does look kinda like the one on my Spartan horn, but then, that one has a flip at the back to hold it against the headlight bar to keep it from rotating.

Re: Horn BRACKET ID
The mounting bracket on the left was never a model a horn bracket. The one on the right is the correct one for a model a ford horn.
Hope this clears up things. Neil THE HORN MAN 601-469-0878 |

nstegall is quite right. The mounting bracket on the left was never a model a horn bracket. The one on the right may be the correct one for a model a ford horn - I can't be sure without seeing more of it.
