Ab or T heads

On a 1947 59 a block, which set of heads is better to use, AB's or T's, or is there any difference ?

The big "T" heads are prewar. In 1945 the 59A-6050-A heads appeared for civilian use but were soon followed by the 59A-6050-B heads also know as the 59AB type. These were standard on all the later 239 engines through the end of production of the cars with the 59 series engines in 1948. I would say that the 59AB heads can be made to do what ever you want. Just make sure you have at least .050" clearance with the piston tops if you shave them down.

There is a chart that shows most of the Ford built heads and what the specs are floating around on this forum and over on the HAMB. The Denver AS heads were the most sought after but they are getting harder to find these days. A good shave job makes them all equal if not overdone.
