Default June 6 1944 Normandy

On this day the 6th of June let’s remember those who valiantly fought during the invasion of Normandy and especially those who gave their lives and the families who suffered the loss of a loved one.

Thank you to those who served then so we can experience freedom today.

Regards Paul J

Morning news show finally mentioned it in the second hour. Nothing in the first hour would have happened had it not been for the sacrifices made 79 years ago. I Will say, they aired a pretty nice segment to a band of D-Day participants who were escorted on a return trip to Normandy.

Normandy='Ike's (General Eisenhower's)plan =where to do it; keep the Nazi Germany guessing 'til the final push.
If you haven't read it, read it! (Brit General Montgomery & 'Ike' had 'disagreements' about 'Nobody other'n Ike can do this'. and IKE DID IT!

The Scots (Brit) were there as well DOING WHAT THEY DID WELL!!! (chew and spit them out.

The 'V' for Victory = GENERAL EISENHOWER/all those Heroes, with FDR/Churchill allll the way to berlin& the eagle's nest front door. The 'clean up' within Vichy France.
(I get chills thinking about this V-for-Victory.)

- and there were German soldiers there that wanted nothing to do with the third reich. The third reich was Adolf's term; an intimidation tactic. THANK YOU.

God Bless those brave soldiers. Many gave their life for this country. What a shame that real history is not taught in schools. Luckily many of us had teachers who fought for our country.

My Father served in the battle. In 1965 I won the draft lottery (the only lottery I have ever won). My Father was a staunch Catholic and he went to 6:00 a.m. Mass EVERY SINGLE DAY that I was in the Army !!!! Talk about The Greatest Generation !!

I was there exactly 5 years ago.

My kids all pitched in and paid for my trip as my 60 birthday present.

It’s impossible to stand on the beaches and not be overcome by emotion when you try to grasp what was happening right then 74 years earlier.

A trip full of memories I will never forget.

I went to Utah and Omaha Beach in 2019. I was the only "non yank" in 3 Mini buses that day (Overlord Tours out of Bayeux).

Terrible times, this is the type of things they need to be required teaching in schools.
