Ted's brake floaters are an essential update on early Ford rod actuated brakes. There is a great Youtube clip of a 34 sedan stopping in a cloud of burning tire smoke! They are a simple yet effective add-on. I had them on my 34 Roadster and now have them on my 34 cabriolet restoration project.

I would not convert to hydraulics again, I would use ted's floaters, did a model A pu with a 60 hp V8 and then a 36 sedan both have tremendous stopping power

I have them on my 32 and am well pleased. Have a set to install on my 34 which is a little more complicated.

Are the 37 brakes similar to the FlatheadTed brakes?

FlatheadTed offers a kit to make your early Ford mechanical brakes stop better. Now some of us are waiting till he also offers a similar kit to make early Ford hydraulic brakes stop better. Jack E/NJ

Yes, in principle they are; the earlier mech brakes operated with a different top adjuster which did not allow the shoes to float. The 37-38 top adjuster can float somewhat, although it is a different shape to Ted's. Plus...the 37-38 brakes have a different [better] return spring setup which enhances the servo effect.
