wiper motor vacuum hose fasteners
I am steadily working my way through the list of things that need attention on my new to me '30 coupe.
This weeks project was to rebuild the inoperative Trico wiper motor (successful). I also replaced the rubber vacuum hose that runs along the top of the windshield frame. The previous owner used hose that was too large and attached it with incorrect fasteners. He used #14 ×1" pan head screws which do not allow the window to close completely. I have searched and cannot find out what the correct fasteners, clamps, and positions are to mount this hose. Can someone post a picture or explain the correct way to mount this hose. BTW, these large pan head screws are installed all across the header. I assume they should all be the same just some with mounting clamps for the hose?

From the passenger edge mine are about 9" and 20".
Screws are round head but I don't know size. |

This URL posted above goes to clips that simply hold the wiper hose that runs across the top of the windshield. That's all |

Re: wiper motor vacuum hose fasteners
Thanks for the replies. Is it safe to assume that all of the screws on these cars are slotted not Phillip's? I also assume these screws that go into the header should be oval head wood screws as opposed to sheet metal screws? Or would they be flat head?

Re: wiper motor vacuum hose fasteners
Correct - except the screws also attach the windshield frame and once installed are unseen, out of sight therefore using a Phillips head + drill sure makes it a lot easier.

Re: wiper motor vacuum hose fasteners
Phillips head screws didn't come into existence until after the Model A so to answer your question, yes they would be slotted. Unless you have a Canadian built car, then they would be Robertson screws.

Re: wiper motor vacuum hose fasteners
When I installed vacuum line for the wiper across the top of the windshield I elected to use 1/8" hard brake line to save space. I wrapped a small piece of rubber hose around the brake line at each clip to prevent rattles and firmly secure the vacuum line. All is hidden and it works perfectly. I used #12x1.5 slotted round head screws. Had to repair a couple of screw holes with toothpicks and Gorilla Glue. I also used the hard brake line to fashion my own windshield stanchion line painted to match the body color.
