Voltage meter
Is there a tool available like the 110 volt meter that will tell if volt's is going through the wire, on 6 volt? I need something that will tell if the wire is live, with out having to use a test light. Thanks

Re: Voltage meter
An inexpensive Multi-Meter from Harbor Freight will do the job. Just set it on 20 DC volts and it will tell you the voltage.

Re: Voltage meter
Do you mean a non-contact tester?

Re: Voltage meter
Yes I mean a non-contact tester, one that you can use on insulated wires.

Re: Voltage meter
You can buy a current probe that will measure current flow through a wire .It must be used in conjunction with a digital volt meter ,(dvm). It can be used to measure amps or milliamperes .You can check them out at aeswave.com. I’ve seen them on Amazon as well.Great for measuring small amounts of parasitic current draw. Dennis

Re: Voltage meter
I don’t know what the correct term to describe the ability to not have the readout go crazy, and possibly even destroy the instrument, from the electric interference while the engine is running. Usually cheaper units are the ones that can’t handle the interference.
