Default '37 Ford windshield drain holes

Just curious where the original drain hoses from the corners of the windshield drained through the body? I'm going to take mine down the door post and though the bottom of the body unless someone can tell me where they should drain. I always like to follow the original intent if possible.

Did the original cowl vent drain run back into the body and then out through the floor? I don't see any holes close by that the hose would have run through. Thanks, Bill

My 35 Tudor has a hose through the firewall into the engine compartment.

My '37 doesn't have any holes in the firewall in the immediate area. I looked in my The '37 Book as well, and don't see any hoses in those pictures.

That drain is for the cowl vent, not the windshield.

I'm not sure where the cowl vent drain went either on the '37. There are no holes around the drain itself. I wondered if it was ever hooked to anything.

My 36 has hoses attached to drain fixtures on each lower corner of the windshield. These hoses are inside the cabin and are routed inside the kick panels in front of the doors. They end at the floor, where there are supposed to be holes for the water to drain out. However, these holes were stopped up with dirt and rust on my car, causing the floor panels and the exterior panels just behind the front fenders to rust through.
I plan to route these rubber hoses trough holes I will make in the firewall. Not original but effective and hideable.

That part of the body on mine was rusted out, but sounds like where I ran the tubes yesterday. I went down the kick panel next to the door post and drilled a hole in the bottom of the panel, installed a rubber grommet with a tight fit to the tubing and hot glued the tubing to the body panel, so it couldn't slide down. Thanks for the reply.

My 37 Fordor had the hoses routed similarly. Who knows how long ago it became non-functional and let in water to rust out the bottom of the side cowl panel area. I can't get in there to fix anything so will clean it out best I can and route the new hoses in that area. Perhaps I can drill out holes from underneath for the escape path.

Bill-
The rubber drain tubes were missing when I started to restore my 37. I routed them the same way as you did. The outlet holes for the tubes were there. I have a photo which may be a little hard to make out but the area is right where the body, front fender and running board meet.

Lawson, Look on page 13 of the 35-36 book, lower right hand corner paragraph, mentions hose through the firewall from windshield drain. You are correct about the cowl drain tube but I can find no mention of it at all.
