Default I must have done something right last fall

Or perhaps it was my heated garage.

Saturday the temperature was supposed to be in the 70s here in SW Iowa. So I thought it might be time to get the 29 out.

After mounting and airing up the tires I took it off the blocks and she fired up on the first try.

It was probably my imagination but she seemed to be full of pep, and getup and go.

Hopefully the vim and vigor will last a while.

It was supposed to have been warm here in SE Iowa over the weekend, but it wasn't: chilly and LOTS of cold wind, which lowered the wind chill factor. I don't trust this Iowa weather yet enough to bring my phaeton out of hibernation. Three weeks ago we went around in shirt sleeves because it was so warm; the following Friday it snowed. This has been THE craziest winter I have seen here since we moved from Phoenix 12 years ago. Don't like the weather at the moment in Iowa? Wait until tomorrow - it'll be entirely different.

Each September, for 18 years I would put my 29' Tudor away in an unheated garage in Massachusetts. I would run the gas out of the carb by closing the shut off valve. No battery charger or tender. The car sat 9 months unattended, until the following June and the engine would always start on the first try. The last battery (Interstate) lasted 8 years. The metal stem tubes/tires never leaked but a few pounds every few years. Perhaps the cold climate preserved everything ?
