Default Block Cleaning

Can anyone tell me what the condition of a block should be after its "baked" and magnifluxed? Would you expect to see all the old exterior paint come off?

The normal process is to bake the complete block in a gas fired oven, and after it cools off enough to handle, it's placed in a large drum rotisserie for shot blasting. When it's done there you wouldn't see a spec of paint or rust or grease or oil anywhere. We clean our transmission castings that way and they have to be painted quite soon after cleanup so that they don't flash rust.

As Mac noted, baked is only half of the process.

And if there is paint left after thermal cleaning it may be due to some high temp. paint being used.
