Radiator shell removal Accomplished!!!
In a previous post I asked some advice on removing a radiator shell from a late 29 Tudor Sedan.
It turned out that the shell was indeed soldered to the neck of the radiator. Heating the neck with a propane torch, and with two wooden wedges placed between the radiator and the shell, a couple of blows with a hammer driving the wedges inwards popped the shell right off. Now the question becomes, do you think that after re-chroming the shell will I need to re-solder the thing or not? Thanks to all that offered their help on this problem. I hope to post photos as soon as I can figure out how to do it. |

Re: Radiator shell removal Accomplished!!!
The shell should be nickel plated rather than chrome. Nickel has such a nice golden hue.
I wouldn't solder it to the neck. |

Re: Radiator shell removal Accomplished!!!
If the previous owner soldered the shell to the radiator he was putting a band aid on some other problem, fix it right. Another problem if you tried to solder it after it was plated you would discolor the plating.

Re: Radiator shell removal Accomplished!!!
Nickel would be correct, not chrome.
