Bad day on the road. Blown motor in Oklahoma
My wife and I left Massachusetts a week ago in our roadster. We've been taking as many back roads as possible. Really enjoying the ride. Blue Ridge Parkway, Smokey Mountains, Ozarks, etc. About 100 miles into Oklahoma, on RT 270 the oil pressure went away and she knocked like crazy. Shut her down. Oil on the dipstick looks like metal flake. AAA towed me to McAlester, OK.
We are on our way to AZ for most of the Winter....well, we were. Trying to rent a box truck or a van and tow dolly. May have to ship my fresh rebuild that's sitting on the garage floor, to AZ. Maybe, I'll just sell it all for scrap. Man am I bummed!

Sorry to hear that Paul. But I'll just bet when the barners and the hambers read the post in the morning you'll have plenty of help.

Dont give up... Get the box truck with the dolly. Get the roadster to AZ and have the motor shipped from your place. You will be glad that you did!!! Ken

Hey man I know the feeling. I was lucky in that it was only a washer down the intake. I still remember the sick feeling when it started knocking. Hope things work out for you.

Too bad the motor put a damper on your trip, but you have to admit that the roadster still looks great even on the back of the truck! |

Re: Bad day on the road. Blown motor in Oklahoma
Well, this morning, things are looking a little brighter. "Freddys35" called me this morning and it looks like we have a plan to get my roadster to the Phoenix area.
Thanks to all who posted with offers of help and support. Man, this internet, the fordbarn and the hamb in particular, are the best friend we have in the old car hobby. Paul

Paul, man am I sorry to read about your engine issues. That's two friends in a week, first Cecil now you....I'm afraid to go out and start the 46 now! Keep us informed as to what you finally decide to do, I know scrapping the whole mess isn't really an option you'll actually consider. LouB
