Go to the Early Ford V8 Club of America website under heading "National Club Information" then select "Forms" then select "Judging Manual"

Very Simply put: "Touring" is as built by Ford, etc. "Touring A" is accessories, all is explained in manual. LouB.

Both categories appear to be the same with exception of dropped axle. So is that the only difference?

As opposed to the Touring Class, Touring A may also have aftermarket heads and multi carb manifolds, tinted glass, modified dash & gauges, dropped axle, and any non-Ford accessories of the 32-53 era. Both classes are of course allowed all options that do not disqualify a car in any of the point judged classes, and all cars are also welcome to join the Display Class.
Note: It has been my experience that a strict distinction between Touring and Touring A is maintained, but, due in part to the plethora of all non-Ford Era accessories, a somewhat looser distinction between Touring A and Display has been tolerated at some Meets in the past.
