Default 41 Ford shift lever removal

I have an old steering column that I'm trying to ship. I saw there was a pin at the base of the shifter I tried popping it out with a punch but that didn't seem to work. Any suggestions???

What looks like a pin isn't in the usual sense.' It is 2 small cylinders with a small spring between them. Take 2 small nails and push on each one at the same time and the shift lever should pull out.
