Spring crossmember pad?
What are you guys using for a "pad" between the top of the springs and crossmember? I remember someone on here said they made them out of some material.

Ford did not install pads on the model A.

The spring seats right on the cross member. No material.
Be sure the top leaf has the beveled edges so it seats all the way in the crossmember. |

I use a chunk of thin oil soaked leather with a small hole cut for the center bolt....

When I reassembled my springs I went by Les Andrews book that states "Cut an 8inch strip of body welt to be placed between the the spring and front cross member". And so I did!

i read somewhere years ago ,that the old guys used to use an old belt with the hole for buckle for the spring bolt. add some oil like others have said.....
