Default Recently acquired ‘35 5 window coupe

I recently acquired a ‘35 coupe. It’s a very solid car, runs and drives, but needs some love cosmetically. I have been acquiring all the literature, but will be picking the collective brain of the group. Thank you for letting me join.

First thing I did was remove the stick on whitewalls. I'm not opposed to wide whites on a car…just not on mine. They have their place… along with pearl handled pistols. Lol.

Project ‘35

Finally had a moment to address the state of the paint underneath 20 years worth of dust, dirt, and droppings. It’s a 20 footer, but what’s there…will still shine like a new penny. It has a few cracks and scars…just like me.

Nice, to get rid of the whitewalls...

There's nothing wrong with black wall tires. Have you ever looked at original Ford Motor Company vehicle photos from the 1930's, 1940's and early 1950's?

(clarification: standard vehicles)

That's what was on the vehicle when it left the assembly plant.

Nice Coupe. Hope you enjoy it.

Very nice coupe! I hope you keep it original. And speaking of that, it looks like your horns are aftermarket 34. The bezel on the 35 was more oval as opposed the triangular shape on the 34. The 90 degree curved section should also be painted black with only the bell and the front bezel being chrome. I could be wrong on all of this, maybe David G will weigh in.
In any case, nice score on the coupe and welcome to the barn.

Bruce,
You need to look at more Ford archives photos.

T Scott,
I agree that those are '33-'34 horns, at least their bells and screens.

Tom
I have an almost duplicate of your car, namely a 35 deluxe 5 window coupe which is black with apple green wheels, and noticed that you were from Maine. Since I live in Veazie Maine, which is located halfway between Bangor and Orono, I would like to know where you are located?
