Coolant leaking from manifold stud
I just filled the engine/chassis that has been sitting for 30 years with coolant and ran the engine for several minutes. After cooldown I notice that there is a small amount of coolant that appears to be leaking from the 3rd manifold stud (toward the firewall). It's a very small leak, just a drop or two along the top of the valve cover. It looks like this stud may have been redrilled at sometime as it's a bit crooked. Is this something to be concerned about?

Re: Coolant leaking from manifold stud
I would drain the coolant, remove the stud and seal the threads. Any leak is something to be concerned with.

Re: Coolant leaking from manifold stud
Thanks Tom,
I should have asked if these studs normally extend into the water jacket or if something else might be wrong, like a crack? |
