Did that very unique, tall, large wheeled, mail delivery vehicle ever sell?
I would imagine that the highest priced car might be a town car?

town car would be around 250k
would think something else might have went higher?

also realize sometimes private sales are much higher- by keeping it private, lower taxes, no commissions and bigger profit. That is what goes on in the Ferrari world.

A recent high point 31 Roadster with a Henry award fetched a nice 58K and another fella offered the lucky buyer an additional 10K to back out of the deal. Not bad for a $400 car.

I know of several A400's that went for $80-110K in the recent past.
Heard tale but cant confirm of a slant town car deliver went for over $220.

"Do EXORBINATE prices mean ANYTHING? We can hear all kinds of B.S, on the INTERWEB" it generally means that the rich could dominate and take the wee folks out. However, I think most of the "rich" are far more interested in "other than Model A's" so maybe our segment is safe??

I am always surprised that the 400A is considered so rare and always talked about, but many Model A owners have never seen or heard of the 68C Slant Window Cabriolet, introduced around the same time as the 400A.

They only made about 500 more 68C cabriolets than 400As. At each national event, you usually see multiple 400As, but you never see the 68C.

The New England Meet, held in Westford, Mass this year Sept 10 weekend will probably have five or more 68C's among the 250 cars in attendance. It the finest Model A, but I am extremely prejudiced in its favor, thank you.

Amazing! I'm usually the only 68C at the events I attend. The big National Blue Ridge tour that had 200+ cars a few years ago had 4-5 400As but I was the only 68C. Don't see them too often.

Be sure to line them up and post pics Bruce!

I too personally know of several Model-A's that have recently fetched in the $60k - 100k range, ...but to add a little twist to the question, if I had to list the 3 most valuable Model-A's still in existence, well there are two of them that easily come to mind but I am struggling with deciding the exact 3rd most valuable.

One of the top 3 most valuable would likely be Edsel's Model-A Sportsman, and another Model-A of close value would possibly be the Allegheny Steel manufactured Tudor Sedan. Oh but determining the third most valuable Model-A gets to be much more difficult!

Jason,
I agree it is a beautiful body style of the "A". I saw and spoke to you on that tour as I have one of my own in the pipeline to restore sometime. Of course it needs everything but will be there one day. In the meantime I've been collecting for it what I need.

Good to see yours on the road so much in fine fashion. I'll be jealous till I get mine done!

I agree with your first two, and my pick for the third would be Edsel's Dual Cowl Phaeton. Not only was the styling a radical departure from HF's propensity for simplicity, but there are numerous refinements to the chassis too. http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2...ds-to-auction/

I had to search for both of those. I found the only reference to the Steel Tudor was the Ford Garage.

I can see the Sportman's with a high dollar value.

In looking at pictures of Edsel's Dual Cowl Phaeton, is that a Panhard Bar I see on the front suspension?

Yes it is, look at the arch to that axle too it's quite different from the stock A design. The rear of the chassis is different too with extended frame rails and semi-ellipticals for suspension.

Wow

Something similar,,,, when we bought our '36 Ford and went out of state to get it, the seller told me that he had a guy from New York call him and tell him that he would give $3,000 more than whatever I wound up paying. The seller was an honest guy, told him 'no' that we had already made a deal, then he gave me the NY guy's ph. number and said 'If you want to make a quick $3,000 here's his number.'

I thought that was pretty honest and no, still have the vehicle wasn't interested in 'making' any money on it!!

I would think if the 'Twenty Millionth' sedan was ever offered for sale, it would fetch a considerable sum.

I have seen the 68C in San Jose. Not Quite Complete and has a decent amount of rust. But it is a 68C and is restorable. I think it could be had a bit less at this point.
