Default 1934 ford front fender tie

I took this car apart 25 years ago, The older I get the less I remember some things. Other things I can go back and remember 60 years ago at least I THINK i can. MY QUESTION IS ON THE FRONT FENDER TIE ON A 34 FORD. i do not remember what the small slot headed screw is for does anyone know. The area it is in is recessed. Thanks for any help. Stan

To retain the retain front fender welting which ran back to the firewall on each side.

Thank you David G, Then it will require a large diameter flat washer. Right now it just has a small lock washer. Thanks for your reply. That makes sense. The fender welting runs all the way back to the running boards. Thanks again. Stan

No flat washer, just a binding head screw. Once the front end components were assembled, it served no further purpose.
