In addition to my "Trash Can" condensers, I have available an electronic device that allows just about any current 12 volt negative ground tachometer to be run on a 6 volt positive ground vehicle. It is simple to install and connect and will drive just about any tachometer from a $10 "swap meet special" to a $600 Autometer with memory and playback. These have been extensively tested and have proved accurate and reliable. They have sophisticated circuitry to "clean up" the power anomalies present in vintage vehicle electrical systems. In comes with a comprehensive instruction and installation manual.

Here is a link to a short video of the device in action : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaxpuDkWAqc.

Here are pictures on the device mounted on the firewall of my 1951 Ford Club Coupe and a picture of the Sun-Pro tachometer head I have mounted on the steering column. The third picture is of a high-end "Mooneyes" tachometer in a '49 Plymouth using the same device.

They are available to board members at $125 plus $8 domestic shipping. You can PM me here or email me at [email protected] if interested.

Re-lining and re-furbishing BRAKE DRUM service! How many of you guys have brake drums that have been turned way past the legal (and practical) 0.060" oversize? New FORD drums dried-up long ago, and GOOD, useable drums are very rare IF you do come upon them. I know that I (like a lot of you) have at least a dozen worn-out hub/drum assemblies layin' in a corner that are far beyond any realistic use. Well now there's a service in Illinois that will re-line and refurbish (make look like new) just about any kind of brake drum you can come up with, including the aluminum Buick and Pontiac units. J&G BRAKE DRUM RELINING AND REFURBISHING is the name of this most valuable service.

I almost forgot to mention that these guys also arc brake shoes!! Click the link below! DD

I'll bet that's why they included their phone number on their web site. I'd also bet that if you call that number ( (815) 276-2578 ), they would likely tell you "yes"...or "no"! I can't imagine why they couldn't, though. Ain't nothin' that special about a '33 rear drum. Click on THIS link below for pictures of some of the REALLY weird drums they've redone. DD

From the photos on the site, it looks like they specialize putting new steel liners in aluminum drums. Steel drums are a whole different kettle of fish. You better check. Report back what you find out.

Even if they do, I expect it to be an expensive process. Eight lug Pontiacs are something special.

Just got off the phone with this folks, very nice, by the way. Yes, they do reline cast iron 33 ford drums, around $325 to $350 per drum, back to new specs. They also offer shoe arching and rivet/bonded shoes. 4 to 5 week turnaround as of right now.

I have a customer looking for an antenna hole plug in the windshield center dowel for a 1939 Convertible. This is different than the closed car that Carpenter makes. Ford show part# 91A-7403456 for 1939 and 1940. I have never seen one.

Regardless, I made a 3D printed (pla plastic) version of what I thought the plug might look like. If anyone has one, or seen one, did I get it close? Also what color should it be?

Karl, It appears your customer is doing his best to properly restore his convertible. That being the case, you may want to share with him the fact that the center (interior) windshield molding had NO hole in the top if the car was not equipped with a radio.

I'd like to see the stainless top latches for a '40 convertible come back. I'm fortunate to have pieced together a very nice set, but I still think they are fragile and wish I had the stainless pieces.

Anyone that hasn't had a chance to thumb through Karl Wescott's (Wescott restyling)'s offerings is really missing out. Many attach the name Wescott with the best Fiberglass products available, and while true It's amazing the other hard to find items he offers that restorers hunt for.

This week I had a itch to have some 35/36 car and 35-39 pickup headlamp nuts made. They are exact as original awaiting plating. Odd size that’s unavailable these days.

For comparative measure... the 11/16” split lock washers were a bear to source to include with them.

Just had these made up. 41-48 Hood latch dowels. Made here in Tennessee out of stainless. The cupped washer and spring will be done soon... stainless as well. Pictured is next to a original (excuse my black thumb recently smashed by a hammer)

Michael -Get a small twist drill and rotating it between your fingers bore a hole through the base of your thumb nail above the darkest area . Stop when you get blood . It will allow the blood and pressure to escape from your subungal haematoma and hopefully save your nail -Karl

Man I had a heck of a time finding a good pin, cup, and spring a few years ago. My friend had one on a spare '42 hood he had stored. I wound up trading him for some '49 dash knobs.

I’m sure he won’t mind; in a recent phone call with Mac Van Pelt he mentioned he made the tube that goes into the fuel pump stand. These have are machined on one end to fit into the block. We all have old fuel pump stands missing these tubes so this is a simple yet needed part. Contact VanPelt sales if you need one. Last photo is one I installed tonight next to a original.

You guys are killing me here! Such beautiful parts, and I'm guessing not for huge profits, but as a way to add in part to the legacy of our great vehicles.... And as for McMinville Tennessee, I just finished a complete resto of my powermatic model 66 tablesaw which was made there in 1978. Had to do it over last weekend because during the week I can't earn a dime without it.

Yes that saw would have been made here. Powermatic has since moved. Interestingly in 1978 they were owned by Houdaille industries (same company related to the shocks on our early fords). I found a Houdaille industries sign at a local yard sell and never knew the connection to powermatic until recently

Those look nice, but what years are they for? They appear to be too short for '32-'36 and not curved enough for the later models. I would also like to see a set installed.

Have some similar in my 39. Use an el and a straight piece of hose to connect to the radiator.

1937 hood latch cam. 78-16628.

Original on right, finished repro in middle, cutout blank on left.

I had the cutout blanks laser cut which allows me to hand form and weld up to make the finished part without expensive tooling.

These won’t be available until middle of February. But for the 32 guys a perfect reproduction of the transmission cover and dual temp gauge face are coming and both will be very very reasonably priced.

Good show; right down to the correct lock nuts. Will you offer the rubber inserts to retain the glass?

No rubber inserts at this time, Carpenters are slightly off. There is some emerging technology to 3D print elastic materials at a reasonable price... but not affordable to me yet. The lock nuts are a commercial stainless nylock... that happens to look like the original.

Michael, you have to make the dual temp gauge faces for the 33/34 gauges. I have 6 of them that need face restoring.

Hello all
Does anyone know where to find the seal for a 1932 Ford Cabriolet header bow? Drake has quit making them. Realized too late that I should have snagged one. Insight appreciated.

The M only appeared on the forged version and only on those supplied by Moore Drop Forgings, which were in a minority of the originals that I've seen, NOS or used.

I have about 40 originals here I keep for restorations and they are about 90% with the big M. Most of these have come from 1939 and 1940 cars which I have parted out over the years. I will check those restorations book as I think the V8 club expects to see the M during judging.

Okay I checked the 1938 1939 Book which states that these shackle bars changed in 1939 to the 91A-5468 and increased the length from 1.50" to 1.56" and they were marked with the M for identification. Most likely the reproduction here is 1.50" and is only correct up through 1938.

Another new small item. I only made 200 of these and will not make anymore in the future. B-2075 1932-34 Ford front brake actuating pin. Seems like these become lost frequently.

Another simple and silly but useful new item. A reproduction of the 32-38 KR Wilson synchronizer hub tool. If you’ve rebuilt one of these you know it can be a pain to compress all 6 springs and balls while sliding the hub into the sleeve. With this tool, as you push the hub down it compresses the springs making it a 3 second job. I use my Kr Wilson one all the time. We only made a limited one time run of them. They are zinc plated.

We just introduced a new item.....the special hardware kit for the Borg Warner overdrive lockout levers. The kit fits all versions of the BW lockout levers. These are the pieces needed to properly clamp the lockout cable to the lever, allowing the lever to rotate without twisting or binding the cable. The special stepped washer and the fine thread bolt (drilled for the wire cable end) are often lost, misplaced, or damaged. You can now buy these pieces, along with the related washers and nut to complete your overdrive transmission installation. Our part number is VP-7689K and is listed in our Overdrive Transmission Parts Prices.

Just a teaser today. In from the foundry:

Door dovetail for Station Wagons 1928-32 front and rear doors (and 1933-34 rear doors only).

Inside door handle for 1932 roadster / phaeton. The importers of the Taiwan ones are sold out and do not expect any for a year or more.

Cabriolet top latch handle 1932-36 (when finished will include roller)

Cabriolet top latch handle 1937-38 (when finished will include roller)

These are all 304 stainless. Next steps are polishing and assembly of the handles. I will post again when finished.

Thought I'd share this. I have been using these on my driver cars as they appear somewhat original compared to the Pete and Jakes etc out there.. Polyurethane shackles that use slotted nuts and original type shackle bars..

1936 Hood latch front catch. "Correct" reproductions from Drake have been unavailable for some time, so I am making these "REPLACEMENT" style without the embossed area. 304 Stainless. Note the hole in the middle is for a rubber bumper.

I'll bet that's why they included their phone number on their web site. I'd also bet that if you call that number ( (815) 276-2578 ), they would likely tell you "yes"...or "no"!

Wow.... you had to go back THREE years for that one. Nevertheless, what you refer to as "sarcasm" is only pointing out what MOST folks either overlook, or find too troublesome to undertake by themselves.

Karl, thanks for posting and making the '36 hood catch. Had a young guy ask me about a pair at the Albany Swap Meet. Luckily I kept his phone number and called him back yesterday and sent him your way.

Coming soon… 1935-1939 steering column tubes. I will have these available for both passenger cars as well as pickups. I am making these from a thicker 18 gauge tubing rather than the factory used 20g. Harder to dent, harder to bend. The bottom end of the tube is bored out in order for the thicker tube to fit over the steering box. The top is flared with the exact same profile as the factory tubes. I have made 12 of each and wanted to offer them to Barn members first.

Please PM me for more information or contact me thru www.nwclassicparts.com. Thanks!

Precision-engineered stone guards designed for 1946-1948 Ford Woodie, meticulously crafted through cutting-edge 3D printing technology.

Surpassing the performance of original and now unavailable vulcanized reproductions, these guards offer enhanced durability without the risk of steel rusting.

Designed with integrated "studs," these guards ensure easy and secure mounting. Alternatively, they can be attached using a variety of adhesive options for added flexibility. Expected to be available in June 2024, exclusively on demand!

‘32 tubes are the easiest to make, no flare at the top. Not sure why they would be expensive, or maybe it’s just what you interpret as expensive. The steel tubing is not hard to find, it’s everywhere, but making the holes, slot and flare clean and accurate is another story. Some guys don't have the time or the ability to make their own. I’m just giving people an option if they can’t find a good original or if they don’t want to try to straighten theirs and I thought I’d share them here first. I only plan to make 12 pickup and 12 car tubes. I already had a few to make for a guy back east so I figured I should make tooling and offer more fire sale to justify the time and money spent on tooling.

Dale, Thank you for clarifying what you meant in your post. That was my fault for misunderstanding what you said.
