How many on the Barn were there?
Dad was cleaning out some old stuff in some drawers and ran across this. MY first Early Ford V8 meet. How many on the barn were there??? I was the ripe age of 8 years old.

Re: How many on the Barn were there?
Wasn't there but there were a number of photos of it in one of Peterson's Complete Ford books. One of the things that got me started on early V8 Fords.

Re: How many on the Barn were there?
The huge thrill of an 8 year old at the meet was standing outside the gate of the test track looking at all the car lined up for the drive around it.....what pulled up right in front of Us was a single gentlemen in a tan 36 Roadster. My dad asked him if he was alone and IF he was could we get a ride. He obliged and into the rumble seat I went, what a thrill!!!! Wish I knew who he was and I hope in someway he knows what a memory he created!!! |

Re: How many on the Barn were there?
I drove my amateur restored maroon 40 dlx 4-dr with wife and two young boys on board from eastern PA to Dearborn '73, then to Canada, and then back home. The 40 never missed a beat the entire trip. It was indeed a magic time that we will never forget. Hopefully my wife and I can do one more time.

Mark, maybe you could make the Early Ford V-8 Club's Eastern National Meet next June in Franklin Tennessee. Should be a very nice event.

Re: How many on the Barn were there?
I'm one of the "wouldn't dream of converting" crowd, however small it may be. My first '32 roadster (a long time ago) was a deluxe and it had been converted to having a trunk. When I restored it, the deck lid went back to serving its original purpose. If you have never ridden in a rumble seat, you don't know what you are missing.

Re: How many on the Barn were there?
That was one year before I joined the V-8 Club. My wife just went to work for Lorin Sorensen and he convinced me I needed to join and get an early V-8. Sold my my Model A roadster pickup and bought a real nice original '33 Ford 4 door sedan. My first meet was 1979 in Bend ,Oregon

Re: How many on the Barn were there?
Oops, I misread the date on the first photo and the enlarged photo on second look tells me it was '73 and not '78 and so I could not have attended as I was on assignment with Ford in South America and the avatar station wagon had not yet been completed. My membership commenced in 1967.

Re: How many on the Barn were there?
I joined in 1973 but was a near broke college student (had finished up active duty) that just bought a 40 woodie that was missing one side of the wood and had no engine for $500. NO way I could have gone to Dearborn!
