Living in Upstate NY I always heard that if the ground Hog saw his shadow it was 6 weeks till spring, if not, it was a month and a half.

I try to get our Maine Coon Tomcat to go out of the heated garage for our prediction. He goes to the door, gives a 'whatever' shrug and goes back inside to his bed.

At almost 24 pounds he does what he wants! If a Groundhog showed up he'd just kill it.

We had one of those for 18 years - he actually liked the snow sometimes - used to wake himself up from his own snoring too...

That's funny! They are incredibly smart, don't 'meow' as much as they make a chirping sound trying to talk. If you ask him something and he doesn't want to do it he will say 'n-o-o-o-' REAL plain and walk away. Vet says they think they are a dog. They can be trained only cat that you can do this to.

He is the best mouse destroyer in the garage of anything we ever had! They don't even come around it's like he has an ADT sign out front that mice know, not to bother

Living here in PA we have the battle of Puxatony Phil and Octoraro Orphie, what a great state we have two ground hogs that are famous! But I always heard that if the ground hog sees it's shadow it will be six more weeks of winter and he doesn't see his shadow then it will be six weeks until spring.
