Friend of mine looking for manuals for a 40 Ford. Anyone know of a source or has them let me know.

I have found that the Ford Motor Co 1940 chassis book and body parts book quite helpful for restoration info. The green bible is helpful for non concourse cars.
They make reprints of the owners manual that came in the glove compartment. The 40 book by the EFV8 club is misleading on many details, when the new one comes out it will be vastly superior. How will your friend use them, or how detailed info does he need?

Below are the books I bought over the years. Many of today's books are reprints, which is fine.

Also this:

Plus this:

This is a must have also:

Finally, you must have THE BIG GREEN BOOK. Often for sale on Fordbarn.

Get an owners manual also just to put in the glovebox.
THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOK OF ALL THE POSSIBLE BOOKS IS Your Check Book!

Motor's Auto Repair Manual is a good reference for tune ups and mechanical work. Older versions that include the 1940 model year (e.g., 18th Edition) can usually be found on eBay (with and without greasy fingerprints).

The friend is trying to restore the vehicle and has it at another neighbors house who is doing the work. You fellows may know the fellow doing the repair work Dick Headmon of Headmon Headers fame.

Thanks 19Fordy for the information.
