the engine run in stand is interesting. How did that setup work? I see it has a connection for the side water neck and a U joint of sorts to drive the transmission... What is interesting is the trans top is there but no shifter... I dont see bolts holding it down either so maybe that gets assembled later? I would assume that it would have gotten assembled over on the transmission line...

I cant be certain, but I remember reading that those engines were run in with electric motors, and perhaps the hoses for selecting engines to be acutally run. In either case, is suspect the transmission towers were special to that purpose, and locked the transmission in top gear.

The electric motor takes more amps to spin a tight engine. As the engine is broken-in the amps drop, and when the amps reach the right level the break-in is done.
